Maui Shopping

Fromย Lahainaย toย Hana, you never know what special treasures youโ€™ll discover on Maui. Overlooking the emerald waters of Kaanapali Beach, the Whalers Village shopping center has a range of shopping gems, from Kate Spade and Oakley to local shops with Hawaiian shirts and other aloha wear. Find more at the upscale Shops of Wailea and the shopping malls ofย Central Maui.ย

West Maui

Teeming with boutiques, restaurants and art galleries, Lahainaโ€™s Front Street offers a myriad of shopping options for visitors. By the Lahaina harbor, local artisans gather under the century and a half-old Banyan Tree for weekend craft fairs. Swimwear, souvenirs and groceries are conveniently found at the Lahaina Cannery Mall. For higher-end shopping, head to Whalerโ€™s Village in Kaโ€™anapali. And every Wednesday, Napili Farmerโ€™s Market can give you a taste of organic and local harvests, baked goods and fresh juices.

South Maui

Shopping in South Maui wonโ€™t disappoint whether you are looking for higher-end labels or budget-friendly beachwear and mementos. The Shops at Wailea offers on-trend and upscale fashion brands, while Wailea Gateway Center has chic locally designed resort wear as well as artisanal confections and specialty foods for your beach picnic adventures. There are also interesting souvenir shops and service outlets at Kihei Kalama Village Marketplace and Azeka Place Shopping Center.

Central Maui

Kahului is a practical stop for families or groups who are staying awhile because of wallet-friendly Costco. Queen Kaahumanu Mall and Maui Mall are also prime shopping destinations. Avid watermen and women can find all their watersports apparel and equipment in this area.

The charming and eclectic shops in Wailuku are also worth a look, especially if you plan to visit Iao Valley. Every first Friday, Wailukuโ€™s Market Street comes alive for the townโ€™s monthly block party where food trucks and entertainment abound, and stores stay open later.

North Shore and Upcountry

A refreshing break from resorts and strip malls, North shore is a shopping haven for the free-spirited and fashion-forward set. On the intersection of Hana Highway and Baldwin Avenue in Paia, one can find modern bohemian styles at Tamara Catz, vintage tees at Alice in Hulaland and sought-after collections at Biasa Rose and Nuage Bleu. Purchase or simply peruse well-curated artwork at Art Project Paia, Maui Crafts Guild and Maui Hands.

In Makawaoโ€™s historic paniolo (cowboy) town, ranch storefronts have become art galleries and clothing boutiques. One can see glassblowers in action most days at the Hot Island Glass shop, and the rustic stores are brimming with stylish designs and local jewelry.

Upcountryโ€™s Kula unveils heavenly sightseeing as well as Maui-made specialty goodsโ€”lavender products from Alii Kula Lavender Farm, goat cheese from Surfing Goat Dairy, wines from MauiWine at Ulupalakua Vineyards, and vodka and rum from Ocean Vodka.

Maui is an artistโ€™s muse. Shopping on Maui, it follows, is sure to delight. Resort areas like Wailea and Kฤสปanapali are a shopperโ€™s haven. But be sure to check out the more artsy and eclectic shops in towns like Paสปia, Lahaina, and even Makawao.
